Pattaya —
More than one hour of heavy rain caused flash floods in most of the Pattaya area at 3 AM on Sunday, October 15th.
The early morning torrential rain, accompanied by strong winds, pounded the city and flooded the usual flood-prone areas, including Beach Road. The water level was over 30 centimeters and even up to 1 meter deep in certain areas.
The flash floods had caused tremendous problems to businesses situated by the roadside such as in Soi Buakhao, Sukhumvit Road, South Pattaya, and Third Road. Luckily, at this hour, few businesses were still open.
However, the rain eventually stopped after about one hour, and the water gradually drained away.
Just earlier this week, Pattaya was left inundated as a result of storm systems stemming from Tropical Storm Koinu. Several vehicles with low ground clearance became stuck on the flooded roads and sustained damage.
The storms earlier this week also caused widespread beach erosion that is still being repaired.
