Pattaya —
Nongprue police arrested the owner of a stall in the Pattaya area for selling Kratom drinks laced with cough syrup to young people.
Acting on a tip from the Region 2 Police Command Center, officers from Nongprue Police Station led by Pol. Lt. Col. Chumpol Saenwichai raided the “Bung Ton 168” shop on Soi Nern Phlap Wan, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. They found and confiscated 18 liters of Kratom drinks spiked with cough syrup, stored among normal bottles of water in large coolers.
The stall owner, identified by police only as 44-year-old Mr. Nakarin, was apprehended and faced charges of selling Kratom drinks with other mixtures.
According to Pol. Lt. Col. Chumpol, this arrest came amid a crackdown on shops selling Kratom drinks, which he said could cause intoxication, addiction, and even led to serious health complications.
Parents concerned about their children’s safety had contacted the Region 2 Police Command Center to inform about Mr. Nakarin’s conduct. They expressed relief after the suspect was arrested, and urged for stricter enforcement against sellers of these harmful substances, Pol. Lt. Col. Chumpol said.
