Korean tourist says they were pickpocketed on Pattaya Beach

Pattaya —

A 43-year-old Korean tourist said he was pickpocketed by a transgender person while strolling on Pattaya Beach at night with friends.

Pattaya police were notified of a pickpocketing incident in front of Soi 13/2 in the Nongprue subdistrict of Banglamung, Chonburi, around 11 PM yesterday, November 2nd.

The victim was identified as Mr. Sanghyeon Lee, 43. He told police he was strolling on Pattaya Beach with his friends to exercise and enjoy the scenery when what he described as a transgender person walked up to him and began seducing him to offer companionship.

Lee said he was uninterested, so he denied the stranger’s offer, who gave him a hug before leaving. However, as soon as the transvestite was gone, the victim groped for his cash in his fanny pack and realized his money worth 5,000 baht had disappeared. The suspect was nowhere to be found at that moment, so Lee decided to contact police.

Pattaya police investigated the incident scene and said they would review CCTV footage to track down the suspect.

TPN notes that there have been in terms of pickpocketing issues in the Pattaya area 15 cases so far this year, with the most recent happening on Pattaya Beach in October.

There have been arrests, including this most recent one, and Pattaya police vow they will continue to search for and arrest the suspects.
