Pattaya –
Two male suspects were caught on CCTV at a temple in Pattaya trying to steal money inside a donation box for the second time.
A monk, Phra Aphichet, 53, at the Nong Yai Temple, told The Pattaya News, “During the Chinese New Year festival, there are many Buddhists who visit the temple and donate money.”
“Yesterday, (January 27th) we reviewed our CCTV footage and found it appeared to show two potential young male thieves were walking with a flashlight searching for something in the early morning. We believe they were trying to steal money from a donation box but seemed to be unable to open the box.” Phra Aphichet explained.
“Ironically, the two aspirant thieves were unable to see an unsecured money donation tree with a significant amount of cash only a few feet away from the donation box they were unsuccessful at opening.” Phra Aphichet added.
“This is not the first time that thieves have tried to steal money from the temple. The first time this happened, police were unable to catch the suspects, who we believe are the same young men.” Phra Aphichet stated.
For reference:
Two young male suspects were caught on CCTV at a Banglamung temple earlier appearing to show respect to religious statues by performing wais before trying to steal money inside a donation box at the temple overnight.
“We hope the police can finally catch the suspects as CCTV footage clearly shows their faces.” Phra Aphichet concluded.
