Thailand-

The following is our weekly feature in which we ask our readers a news topical question and get their insight and opinions. We then share their feedback a week later and pick a variety of diverse and interesting responses.

This week, we wanted to gauge our reader’s confidence and thoughts about the Pattaya “reopening” plan supposed to happen in November.

So, our question is:

What do YOU think about the current plan to reopen Pattaya to foreign vaccinated tourists in November?

This is a fairly open-ended question on purpose and we want it to be that way to let people express their thoughts and opinions about the proposal. If you are not familiar with the proposal, you can read more about it by clicking here. Keep in mind it could change and is not “set in stone”, like many things in Thailand.

The cliff notes of the plan for those who are short on time to read the prior article, as currently proposed:

-7 days in Pattaya, then can travel to other areas. While in Pattaya, however, you can travel anywhere in the area including Jomtien and Sattahip but cannot leave.

-Must take at least two Covid-19 tests while here, paid for from your own pocket. This doesn’t include a test before coming to your own country.

-Must stay in a SHA+ hotel for the 7 day period (Contrary to belief, this isn’t just massive expensive resorts, there are many mid-range and affordable options, although for those who prefer only guesthouses or hostels they won’t be pleased and you cannot stay in your own condo or house.)

-Still must have a COE (Certificate of Entry) and insurance before coming, along with hotel pre-booked.

-All activities and places are open to you. However, there is no guarantee bars and nightlife will be allowed to open and authorities are being evasive on this topic.

Do you think the program will work? Is it better than the current program? Would you take part in it? What should be improved? What is good about the program?

We look forward to hearing from you! Tell us on our social media channels, in the comments below, or if you prefer your comment to be private mail us at Pattayanewseditor@gmail.com. We will publish the results and select a variety of diverse responses early next week, as always!
