Pattaya mobile sterilization and vaccination continues for stray cats and dogs and aims to help decrease the number of stray animals in Pattaya

Pattaya –

The mobile sterilization and vaccination truck for Pattaya to treat stray cats and dogs is currently in use to help control stray animal problems in the local area.

The program was in service at the Krating Lai Temple today (June 21st) and was led by the Pattaya City Deputy Mayor Manot Nongyai.

Mr. Manot told The Pattaya News reporters, “This project started two years ago. The program is aimed to decrease the number of stray cats and dogs in Pattaya in total, especially during Covid-19 as more animals were released onto the streets or moved into areas with abandoned buildings and businesses.”

“This service is free and includes sterilization, a rabies vaccine, and medicine to prevent ticks and fleas,” Manot added.

“The mobile truck has three veterinarians and was fully booked today with efficient and speedy, as well as accurate, services,” Manot stated.

“On June 23rd the truck will be at Jittapawan Temple while on June 25th  it will be at the Mai Samran Temple on Koh Larn to help control the local stray animal populations in these areas,” Manot concluded.

TPN Media notes that there has been a significant amount of stray animals in the Pattaya and Jomtien area and they have become more visible due to Covid-19 and lack of tourists and traffic. The issue around stray animals is often controversial, with many different opinions on how the situation should be handled depending on who is asked. The overall plan for the city, however, is to catch the stray animals, neuter or spay them, and release them back into their natural environment. According to proponents of this method, this prohibits more aggressive dogs from moving in while stopping peaceful dogs from being sent to overcrowded and sometimes poorly supported pounds.
