Big Bike Rider Killed After Crashing into Tour Bus Near Pattaya

A big bike rider was killed after crashing into a tour bus on Highway 36 near Pattaya, Chonburi province last night, June 23rd.

The accident happened at around 10:36 PM in front of Soi Nong Pla Lai in the Pong sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Nongprue police and rescue services rushed to the scene to find a Yamaha R-One 1,000 cc motorcycle had crashed into a tour bus belonging to FirstTrans Sport Company Limited.

The impact caused the motorcycle to catch fire. Rescue workers quickly extinguished the flames before attempting to revive Mr. Kritthapoom Khanthong, the 37-year-old rider of the motorbike, who had sustained serious injuries. However, Mr. Kritthapoom later succumbed to his wounds at the scene.

Mr. Kritthapoom’s friend, Mr. Channin Srichom, who was riding with him at the time of the accident, said that they had been returning from a weekend trip. He claimed that the bus driver made a sudden U-turn and that his friend did not have time to stop because of the lack of lights in the area.

The bus driver, Mr. Sarit Mookae, 35, said that he was making a U-turn at a legal U-turn spot. He said that the big bike rider was coming straight and swerved from the right lane into the left lane, resulting in a collision. After the incident, he promptly reported it to the authorities.

Police are investigating the accident to determine the exact cause and any potential liability.
