Summer Storm Hits Hat Yai: Billboards and Poles Collapse, No Injuries Reported

At 3:00 PM, on May 5th, 2024, Hat Yai local media reported that a heavy summer storm and winds struck Hat Yai, Songkhla, causing large advertisement billboards and electricity poles to collapse. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported.

According to Hat Yai local media, Hat Yai Municipality publicized to locals to avoid the Manohra intersection area as it could potentially harm drivers and pedestrians. Relevant agencies were dispatched to secure the area and block the road.

It was reported by local Hat Yai media that more than 10 electricity poles collapsed and one of them hit a pickup truck with 5 passengers. Luckily, nobody suffered an injury.


Pol. Lt. Gen. Sakorn Thongmunee, the Mayor of Hat Yai City, reportedly coordinated with the Hat Yai Provincial Electricity Authority and relevant agencies to take immediate action and survey the damage to locals’ property and safety to provide further assistance.

The Songkhla Governor made the issues a top priority and requested aid from all sectors to tackle the problems and planned precautionary measures to prevent future incidents that may occur, stated the Mayor of Hat Yai City.
