Pattaya —
An American expat in Pattaya has been winning hearts online for his acts of kindness towards children.
Savvy Rick Brown, a 57-year-old TikTok user, has been going around handing out helmets to children who are not wearing them while riding motorcycles with their parents. In one of his videos posted on his account “savvyrickbrown,” Brown is seen stopping a motorbike with two children. He then asked the parents if he could give their children a helmet. The parents were visibly touched by his gesture and gratefully accepted the helmet.
Brown’s act of kindness has gathered numerous attention from people online, with some of his TikTok videos receiving more than one million views. Many people praise Brown for his care for children, and some have even shared their own experiences of being injured in motorcycle accidents when they were young.
In an interview with local media, Brown explained that he decided to start giving away free motorbike helmets after witnessing many children in Pattaya riding motorcycles without helmets. Growing increasingly concerned, he decided to go out, buy helmets, and start offering them for free on the side of the road.
Brown said that he has been living in Thailand for the past 18 months and has grown to love the country and its people. He understood that some families may lack money to buy helmets, so he just wants to help them out.
With his own money, Brown has been offering free helmets for six months. He is committed to giving away one million helmets with the help of donors and people in his home country. He hopes that his efforts will help to raise awareness about the importance of helmet safety in Thailand as he explained to The Pattaya News previously.
