Guest Op-ed: From Bruised to Helmets: My Mission to Keep Kids Safe

The following short opinion editorial is by guest writer “Savvy” Rick Brown. You can learn more about him at the bottom of the article. Guest writer opinions and statements are entirely their own and may not necessarily be those of TPN Media.

Not everyone gets a second chance. At 14, I was bullied in school and left for dead in a ditch after my bike brakes were tampered with. No helmet. Just a whole lot of luck that I’m still here today.

That experience changed me. Now, in my adopted home of Thailand, seeing kids zoom around on motorbikes without helmets brings that fear rushing back. I can’t prevent every accident, but I can do my part. That’s why I started giving away high-quality, Thai-made helmets with proper safety certifications – over 120 in the last two months alone!

My goal? 1 million helmets across Thailand. Ambitious? Maybe. But seeing a kid smile with a new helmet on their head and to be protected – that’s priceless.
