Pattaya Police Rally to Deter Crime Ahead of Songkran Festival

Pattaya —

A large team of law enforcement officers gathered at Central Pattaya Beach and held a parade of vehicles yesterday, April 3rd, in a move to deter crime and make tourists feel safe ahead of the upcoming Songkran festival.

The operation, dubbed “Safe Songkran, Happy Pattaya”, is in line with the government’s and the Royal Thai Police’s policies to ensure public safety and security during Songkran.

The rally was presided over by Pol. Lt. Gen. Akradet Pimonsri, Deputy National Police Chief, featuring more than 300 police officers from 23 police stations as well as several police vehicles. Other than the parade, the rally also included a police march.

According to Pol. Lt. Gen. Akradet, Police Region 2 has designated the entire Chonburi province as a target area for a crime suppression operation. The operation will involve the collaboration of various law enforcement agencies, which aim to prevent and suppress all forms of crime, promote tourism, reduce traffic accidents, and maintain public order and safety for both locals and tourists during the Songkran Festival.

In addition, the Pattaya Police Station has introduced the “Pattaya Safety” mobile application to provide services to the public and tourists.

The application allows users to report incidents and provide online tips 24 hours a day. Users can also track the status of their reports and request emergency assistance from police by pressing the SOS button. The application is available in both Thai and English and features a user-friendly interface.

The application, however, is not yet available and will be launched soon, said the police.
