Speeding Pickup Truck Crashes into Businesses, Injuring One in Chonburi

Chonburi —

A speeding pickup truck swerved off Huay Yai Road on February 15th, 2024, at approximately 9:30 PM, colliding with two businesses and multiple parked motorcycles, injuring one person.

The incident occurred in front of the Farm House Company in Huay Yai, Banglamung, Chonburi, prompting a response from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation.

Upon arrival at the scene, rescuers found a white Toyota Revo pickup truck, driven by 34-year-old Mr. Chansak Somchai. Initial reports indicated that the Thai man was reportedly traveling at high speed and under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle then lost control and collided with two shops – a grocery store and an Isaan restaurant – and 10 parked vehicles.

Witnesses, including restaurant owner Mr. Sermsak Tong-on (37), described the scene as devastating. Mr. Sermsak was serving customers when the truck slammed into his business, causing significant damage and destroying food products. The truck also struck one unidentified Thai man, causing him serious injuries.

Police apprehended Mr. Chansak and administered an alcohol test to determine his blood alcohol content. The blood result was not released, however.
