Pattaya —
In a concerted effort to safeguard tourists, high-visibility patrols were conducted yesterday, January 28th, by the tourist police in several key areas of Pattaya.
Led by Pol. Lt. Col. Piyapong Ensan, officers on bicycles patrolled Bali Hai Pier, Pattaya Second Road, Terminal 21 Shopping Center, Pattaya Beach Road, and Walking Street.
According to Pol. Lt. Col. Piyapong, the initiative aimed to deter potential criminal activity targeting tourists as part of the “Pattaya Walking Street (S.T.C.)” project. Pol. Lt. Col. Piyapong stated citizens and tourists were encouraged to report any suspicious activity through the official 24/7 Line account: S.T.C. Walking Street.
The S.T.C. project draws inspiration from the successful Smart Safety Zone initiative, focusing on safeguarding tourists in popular destinations across Thailand. The 10 initial target areas include Khao San Road in Bangkok, Pattaya Walking Street, Wat Chaiwatthanaram Community in Ayutthaya, Walking Street in Loei and Chiang Mai, Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Temple in Phitsanulok, Fisher Man Village on Samui Island, Phuket’s Bangla Walking Street, Saneha Nuson Road in Songkhla, and plans are underway to expand the project nationwide.
