National—

On December 31st, 2023, Thai Meteorological Department officials forecasted for Thailand from 06:00 AM to 06:00 AM on January 1st, 2024.

The 24-hour weather forecast indicated that an area of high pressure or cool air mass will prevail over the upper part of Thailand, while westerly winds at upper levels will cover the northern region. This weather pattern will maintain cool to cold temperatures with morning fog persisting in the northern region.

The northern mountainous areas will be very cold with some areas experiencing frost. The lowest temperatures will range from 4-12 degrees Celsius in the northern region and 11-15 degrees Celsius in the eastern northeastern mountain peaks.
People in the upper areas of Thailand are advised to take care of their health due to continued cold conditions in the mornings and to exercise caution while traveling through foggy areas.

Moderate pressure prevails over the central, eastern, northeastern Gulf of Thailand and the southern region. Therefore, the lower southern region may experience occasional thunderstorms. Wind waves in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are of moderate intensity, with waves reaching 1-2 meters in the Gulf of Thailand, over 2 meters in areas with thunderstorms, and approximately 1 meter in the Andaman Sea.

Mariners in these areas should navigate with caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.
Air quality: The lower northern region, and central region, including the Bangkok Metropolitan Region, will experience moderate to quite high levels of accumulated dust/smog due to decreased wind intensity and poor air ventilation.
