Pattaya —

A foreign motorcyclist, believed to be a Kuwaiti tourist, was allegedly punched by a Thai motorcyclist in Pattaya late Tuesday night following a minor motorbike collision.

The incident unfolded outside a Middle Eastern restaurant on Soi Yensabai in South Pattaya on December 26th. According to Mrs. Chorfa Iamla-or, a restaurant owner, the victim, a male tourist from Kuwait in his early twenties, was leaving the restaurant on his chopper bike when his vehicle’s engine suddenly ceased to operate in the middle of the road.

Mrs. Chorfa, who witnessed the entire incident, said that the victim was trying to restart his motorbike when a white Honda Click motorcycle driven by a Thai man suddenly rammed into the victim’s bike.

The Thai motorcyclist aged between 35-40 years old then allegedly punched the tourist in the face. Concerned about the tourist, Mrs. Chorfa said she begged the man to stop, but he refused before punching the tourist twice more, causing him to fall together with his motorbike.

Luckily, an unidentified local journalist passed by the scene and attempted to intervene and de-escalate the situation. However, the assailant reportedly remained belligerent, even challenging the reporter to film the incident. Eventually, he fled the scene on his motorbike, leaving the shaken victim behind.

It was reported that the victim filed a complaint with the Pattaya police after the incident and has asked Pattaya police to find and arrest the suspect to charge him with assault.
