Five Provinces in Southern Thailand Suffering from Flooding

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reports five provinces in the South of Thailand are suffering from flooding as heavy rains continue.

The DDPM reports on Tuesday (December 26th), from December 22nd to December 26th, 2023 there are five provinces suffering from flooding which are Satun, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. There are in total 24 districts, 92 sub-districts, 384 villages and 19,624 families affected.

Of those five provinces, Narathiwat has the worst flooding with the highest number of families suffering which are 16,680 families in total.

Four people have been reported missing after a boat capsized during an evacuation during the floods in the Rue Soa district, Narathiwat, in which an 89 and 63-year-old female elders and 2 and 8-year-old boys are missing.

The Narathiwat Governor Mr. Tragoon Toetham inspected flooding areas in the provinces and assisted flood victims.

After the cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning the Thai Prime Minister Mr. Srettha Thavisin also went to visit Narathiwat and offer his support.
