Sri Racha —

Sri Racha authorities officially opened the third section of the “Floating Bridge” project aimed at boosting tourism on Koh Loi on Thursday, October 26th.

Back in prior years, the Sri Racha Municipality undertook the construction of the floating bridge, which spans an impressive total length of 480.20 meters, divided into three sections, in order to boost domestic and international tourism.

The entire project received funding from various government sources for Section 1, extending 152 meters, being supported by the Sri Racha Municipality’s budget allocation of 86,516,000 baht for the construction, which was completed in June 2023.

The project then proceeded to build Section 3 of the bridge, which measured 158 meters. This section received financial support of 86,029,600 baht from the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development project and the Sri Racha Municipality, and it was officially completed yesterday, October 26th.

The remaining Section 2, spanning 127.20 meters, is supported by a budget of 71,316,500 baht from Chonburi Province, and it is expected to be completed in September 2024.

Yesterday, Sri Racha authorities, led by Mayor Chatchai Timkrajang, held an inauguration ceremony for the third section of the bridge. He mentioned that the floating bridge’s goal was to create a new tourist attraction in the Sri Racha district. The iconic bridge will enable visitors to enjoy spectacular 360-degree views of the sea during the day and evening.

Nestled 500 meters from the coastline, Koh Loi is a popular retreat for both locals and tourists. It serves as the primary gateway to Sichang Island, a renowned destination in Sri Racha. Additionally, the island is home to the revered Sri Maharacha Temple, situated on top of a hill, which offers breathtaking panoramic views, especially during sunrise. For young visitors, there’s also a small sea turtle pond, providing an opportunity for observation and learning.
