At 7:00 PM on October 25th, the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center received a report of a severe physical assault on a young Thai man at the Tree Town market in Soi Buakhao, Central Pattaya, Banglamung district, Chonburi. Upon receiving the report, rescuers coordinated with Pattaya police and promptly arrived at the scene for investigation.

There, they discovered the victim, identified as 25-year-old Min Muang, lying in a pool of blood with severe head injuries. According to eyewitnesses, Mr. Min was a delivery worker from a nearby beverage shop who had arrived on a motorcycle to make a delivery of alcoholic beverages to an unidentified bar at the market which has dozens of bars and restaurants.

Following Min’s arrival, two security guards from the market engaged in a spirited conversation with him, although the exact content of their discussion was inaudible to witnesses. Shortly after, the delivery man was spotted being forcibly dragged along the ground by the security guards. They allegedly proceeded to kick and stomp on the victim, mainly targeting his face and head, as described by eyewitnesses.

An unidentified bystander also recorded the assault on their phone. They also implored the attackers to cease their actions, questioning whether they intended to escalate the situation to a lethal extreme.

The suspects, whose identities were not disclosed by the police, were arrested at the scene and taken to the Pattaya Police Station to undergo legal proceedings. It was not immediately made clear if the suspects were guards for a specific venue at the market or the market itself.

Pol Col Thanaphong Phothi, superintendent of the Pattaya Police Station, remarked that the incident had cast a negative light on Pattaya’s reputation as a safe world class family friendly tourist destination, especially considering that the market was filled with tourists at the time of the attack.

The victim was safely transferred to a local hospital. No response from the market was available as of press time.

Back in 2022, a violent brawl erupted at the Tree Town market, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The brawl, involving up to seven individuals including contracted security, stemmed from a heated argument. The motive appeared to be a business dispute.
