Swiss Honorary Consulate Officially Opens in Pattaya

Pattaya —

The official opening ceremony of the new Swiss honorary consulate took place in Pattaya, Thailand on October 12th, 2023, and was attended by the Mayor of Pattaya, Poramese Ngampiches, as well as the Ambassador and Honorary Consul of the Swiss Confederation to Thailand.

The Honorary Consul of the Swiss Confederation, Ms. Esther Kaufmann, remarked that the establishment of the honorary consulate signifies an elevation of the diplomatic relationship between Switzerland and Thailand.

She added that it also presents a valuable opportunity to further promote and facilitate opportunities for cross-cultural learning and knowledge exchange among the citizens of both nations.

Located in Jomtien Soi 5 within the My Office Travel Company, the new honorary consulate is expected to help ease the workload of the existing Swiss embassy in Thailand, while facilitating Swiss nationals residing in Chonburi province and its vicinity.

Ms. Kaufmann further expressed her hope to enhance tourism between Switzerland and Thailand, enabling Thai tourists to experience the culture, beauty of nature, and attractions in Switzerland, as well as for Swiss tourists to visit Thailand, especially the city of Pattaya.
