Sukhawadee House Completes Demolition of Its Buildings Found in Violation of Encroachment in Pattaya

Pattaya —

After years of legal battles, Sukhawadee House, a famous tourist attraction and residential complex in Pattaya, has finally removed three buildings that were found to be in violation of land use regulations.

The buildings, which were owned by Health Foods International (Thailand), were accused by the city of Pattaya for encroaching on public land. The city won a court case against the company, but the company filed an appeal, which was granted.

In 2023, the city won a second court case against the company, but the company still did not demolish the buildings. The city then took the matter into its own hands and with a troop of heavy machinery, they visited the complex to tear down the unlawful buildings in May 2023.

Health Foods International eventually agreed to remove the buildings itself. On Friday, August 18th, municipal officials inspected the area and confirmed that the buildings had been removed.

This marks the end of a long-standing saga between Pattaya city and Sukhawadee House. The removal of the buildings is a victory for the city and a step towards ensuring that all land in Pattaya is used in accordance with regulations, the authorities stated.
