Pattaya Police Step Up Beach Patrols to Prevent Violence, Arrest Eight Teens

Pattaya —

Pattaya police patrolled Pattaya Beach early Thursday morning, July 20th, to make sure that beach-goers did not carry weapons, drugs, or fought each other.

The police officers have noticeably stepped up beach patrols lately following multiple violent incidents involving Thai teenagers.

The violence even spread to the streets of Pattaya where two teenagers were shot by their rivals while riding a motorbike Wednesday night, July 19th.

According to Pol. Lt .Col. Surachet Aneksri, deputy chief of the Pattaya police station, 8 young suspects, all of whom were males aged between 15 to 19 years old, were arrested for shooting the two teens.

However, the suspects only admitted to being present at the scene of the incident but denied using any firearms. They revealed that the cause of the conflict stemmed from previous provocative chat messages exchanged between them and the victims.

The police seized from the suspects 4 motorbikes, 1 airsoft gun, and 10 mobile phones. The only remaining issue is the firearms used in the incident, Pol. Lt .Col. Surachet stated.

In the meantime, Pattaya police will regularly patrol risk spots around the city to ensure that a recurrence will not happen.
