Rayong —

Hours of rain left several homes in Rayong province, eastern Thailand, inundated.

The Siam Rayong Rescue Center was notified of a flash flood that had inundated Road 3191 in the Nikhom Patthana District in Rayong at 03:00 AM today, July 21st. Several vehicles were damaged by the floodwater, and some people were trapped inside their vehicles.

Additionally, the floodwater overflowed into the nearby Gatenipa Village, causing significant damage to property and submerging over 10 houses. The water level was one meter as of press time.

After cutting off the electricity supply within the village out of precaution, the rescuers were assisting affected villagers in relocating their belongings to higher ground.

Some residents expressed their grievances to local media saying they were sleeping amidst a heavy rain that lasted for more than ten hours when the water suddenly rushed into their village, catching them off guard.

In a rush to escape, some villagers evacuated their houses without bringing anything with them, causing significant destruction upon their properties.

The Siam Rayong Rescue Center reported at 8:00 AM that the floodwater was receding, but the rain still persisted. They warned residents in low-lying areas, especially near riverbanks, to be prepared for sudden flooding.
