Private Company to Invest 40 Billion Baht into U-Tapao Airport Expansion

The Thai government and its private venture partner U-Tapao International Aviation Company (UTA) are planning to put as much as 40 billion baht into the expansion project of the U-Tapao international airport.

UTA is increasing its registered capital of 4.5 billion baht to 15 billion baht to push the expansion of the airport at full speed.

Once the capital increase is accomplished, UTA will allocate a substantial total investment of 40 billion baht towards the expansion of the airport. Upon completion of the development project, full rights and ownership of the aviation facilities will be transferred to the state.

The investment plan for UTA in U-Tapao has been revised from the original 4 phases to 6 phases, with the following passenger capacity projections:

Phase 1: Initially planned for 15.9 million passengers per year, revised to 12 million passengers per year by 2027.
Phase 2: An additional capacity of 15.9 million passengers per year (by 2030).
Phase 3: Originally planned for 30 million passengers per year, revised to 22.4 million passengers per year by 2034.
Phase 4: An additional capacity of 30 million passengers per year by 2034.
Phase 5: Originally planned for 45 million passengers per year, staying roughly the same at 45 million passengers per year by 2047.
Phase 6: Maintaining the original plan of 60 million passengers per year by 2060.
