Two women were shot, one in the cheek, after leaving a pub in Pattaya last night in a brutal drive-by shooting. Police believed the shooter shot the wrong people.
The ferocious attack took place near the entrance of Pattaya’s Soi Chaloem Phrakiat 4/1 at 02:10 AM today, March 24th. Sawang Boriboon rescuers aided two women who had been shot while driving their Mercedes-AMG home, namely Ms. Nippawan Vola, 26, and her Chinese friend, Ms. Li Xinying, 24.
According to rescuers, Nippawan, a Thai national, suffered a gunshot to the cheek while Xinying was shot in the left wrist. Pattaya Police told The Pattaya News that the victims’ Mercedes had multiple bullet holes and that they found six 9mm bullet shells at the scene of the incident. The two women were rushed to Pattaya Memorial Hospital for immediate medical care.
Police began an investigation and learned that the victims had just left a pub named Ying Club in Soi Chaloem Phrakiat 4/1. The officers visited the venue and asked its staffers for clues, to which they were told a small altercation was broke up earlier in the pub.
The staffers said it involved a group of local teenagers and another group of Korean customers. The two groups argued when their friends accidentally walked into each other. The women, meanwhile, were just regular customers without a group who caused absolutely no problems. The altercation was settled without violence, according to the staffers.
However, the two groups coincidentally exited the pub at the same time as the victims. The Korean customers turned left while the women turned right. The staffers said they recalled the local teenagers turned right, and shortly after that, they heard multiple gunshots. Police believed the suspects may have shot the wrong people.
Today, March 24th, Pattaya Police were quickly able to apprehend a gunman, Mr. Nopporn Inpom, 29. The suspect had fled to Sukhothai province and was arrested with a 9mm pistol. He was whisked back to Pattaya for interrogation. Initially, he reportedly confessed to shooting the victims, claiming he shot the wrong people.
The gunman is currently in police custody, waiting for legal proceedings.
The two injured women have been transferred to Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital and are reported to have improved from their previous dangerous condition.
