Pattaya, Thailand-
For the first time in three years Pattaya will celebrate a normal Halloween, traditionally one of the busiest party nights of the year in the tourism reliant city.
However, due to COVID-19 restrictions and border closures the past several years Halloween was a muted affair. Indeed, last year bars and nightlife venues were mandated shut and alcohol banned at restaurants. In 2020, venues were open but strict zero covid border closures limited foreign tourism to almost zero. Venues also had to adhere to various strict COVID-19 measures.
This year, however, basically all restrictions and border controls are gone, entertainment venues are open and it seems nearly every one in Pattaya is having a Halloween party.
Halloween is not a traditional Thai holiday but had been increasing in popularity, especially in tourism hotspots like Pattaya, for many years prior to COVID-19. Pattaya depends on tourism for roughly 90 percent of its GDP and after over two years of Covid restrictions is certainly happy to see both domestic and international tourists ready for a party.
For a hotspot of activity for Halloween our editors suggest a visit to the Royal Garden Mall on Beach Road where Ripley’s Believe It Or Not is holding a major Halloween event all weekend long. For those looking for professional make-up on Halloween night this is also a sure bet. The pictures in this article are from Ripley’s.
Oh, there’s a haunted house there too and promotions and specials are taking place all weekend. Halloween falls on Monday, October 31st. Have a spooky and fun Halloween from The Pattaya News.
