Thai Meteorological Department says more rain and wind likely coming in much of Thailand

The Thai Meteorological Department reported the daily weather forecast on Wednesday, June 22nd, with thundershowers in the whole country and possible isolated heavy rains and gusty winds in most parts of Thailand.

A southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand whereas a low-pressure cell covers upper Vietnam, resulting in thundershowers that are likely to occur in the whole country. Isolated heavy rains and gusty winds are also possible in the Northeast, the Central, the East, and the South regions.

In the Northern part, scattered thundershowers are predicted mostly in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun with a minimum temperature of 24-26°C and a maximum temperature of 33-37 °C. Southwesterly winds are expected at 5-15 km/hr.

In the Northeastern part, Scattered thundershowers and isolated gusty winds are expected mostly in Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Udon Thani, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Si Saket, and Ubon Ratchathani with a minimum temperature of 24-26 °C and a maximum temperature of 34-36 °C. Southwesterly winds are expected at 10-15 km/hr.

In Central Thailand, Scattered thundershowers with isolated heavy rains and gusty wind are possible in Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Chai Nat, Lop Buri, Saraburi, and Ratchaburi with a minimum temperature of 24-26 °C and a maximum temperature of 36-37 °C. Southwesterly winds are expected at 10-15 km/hr.

In the Eastern part, Scattered thundershowers with isolated heavy rains and gusty wind are likely in Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat with a minimum temperature of 24-26 °C and a maximum temperature of 33-37 °C. Southwesterly winds are predicted at 15-30 km/hr. Wave height is about 1 meter and 1-2 meters in thundershowers.

On the east coast of Southern Thailand, scattered thundershowers are expected mostly in Phetchaburi, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat with a minimum temperature of 23-26 °C and a maximum temperature of 33-36 °C. Southwesterly winds are forecast at 15-30 km/hr. Wave height is about 1 meter and above 1 meter in thundershowers.

On the west coast, Scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains are forecast in Ranong, Phangnga, Krabi, Trang, and Satun with a minimum temperature of 23-25 °C and a maximum temperature of 32-35 °C. Southwesterly winds are predicted at 15-30 km/hr. Wave height is about 1 meter and 1-2 meters in thundershowers.

For Bangkok and its vicinity, Scattered thundershowers and isolated gusty wind are expected with a minimum temperature of 25-26 °C and a maximum temperature of 34-37 °C. Southwesterly winds are predicted at 10-15 km/hr.

The Department warns people to beware of the severe conditions. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off the sea during thundershowers as the waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf can reach 1 meter high and 1-2 meters high in thundershowers.
