One of the prime suspects for murdering a Thai couple in Taiwan detained at Bangkok prison

Bangkok –

One of the prime suspects for murdering a Thai couple in Taiwan was arrested and detained for initially 12 days at a Bangkok prison.

Alleged murderer Thanawat Pumkhemthong was captured in the Kalasin province on Sunday, June 19th after reportedly being involved in killing Prasert Norat and Potjanee Sae Li as well as their five-month-old unborn twins in Taiwan on June 8th.

Police had requested detention at the Criminal Court in Bangkok for initially 12 days, from June 20th to July 2nd, as the investigation is ongoing and criminal background checks are in the process.

The Criminal Court approved the detention request, reasoning that the case is persecuted with a high penalty and occurred outside the Kingdom. If released, the accused may escape, destroy the evidence, and/or cause repetitive cases.

Thanawat was charged with murder and would be transferred to Bangkok prison.
