Many areas in Bangkok City flooded after several hours of continuous heavy rain last night

Bangkok –

Many areas and communities in Bangkok were encountering floods due to constant heavy rain last night, resulting in heavy traffic jams since this morning, May 18th.

Local media reported that traffic congestion was spotted on many major roads in the city, such as Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Ram Intra Road, Ratchadaphisek Road, and Ngamwongwan Road, due to flooding in many areas.

Especially on streets and sois, flooding was seen on roads and walkways. Traffic police were stationed to manage traffic routes but it was a struggle as a large number of vehicles were on the road and must slow down during the flooding.

As of this morning, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha stated regarding the flooding after several hours of continuous heavy rain last night that related agencies are currently taking care of and solving the problems. He also asked for public understanding as the drainage may take some time as Bangkok is fairly crowded.

“I hope that everything would be better in the future if we could solve problems. About the city congestion, it was a problem that everyone has to help with. If we didn’t solve this, it won’t solve anything at all,” Prime Minister added.
