Italian man, reportedly a popular local chef, dies after motorbike crash in Pattaya

Pattaya –

  A 40-year-old Italian driver has been pronounced dead after a motorbike crash in the Pattaya area after midnight today (May 11th).

The Pattaya City Police was notified of the accident at 0:30 A.M. on Jomtien Second Road in Nongprue, Banglamung. Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene shortly after.

The body of the 40-year-old male Italian motorbike rider (The Pattaya News is withholding his name pending embassy and family notification) was found face down near a damaged power pole, bleeding heavily. The damaged motorbike was found on the road nearby. The victim had not been wearing a protective motorbike helmet.

Witnesses told The Pattaya News the victim was driving at extremely high speed before losing control and crashing into a power pole. TPN has been told by friends of the victim that the man was a chef at a popular Jomtien Italian restaurant and an ex-pat well known in the local Italian community. TPN gives its condolences to his friends and family.

Pattaya police are checking CCTV footage nearby to review the circumstances of the accident, a standard procedure in these cases.
