Fire breaks out in Pattaya police dormitory, alarming residents

Pattaya –

An early morning fire damaged the room of a female police officer at the Pattaya police dormitory yesterday morning (April 22nd).

Firefighters were notified of the fire at 4:00 A.M. at the Pattaya police dormitory near Pattaya Beach Road, behind the police station on Soi 9 and across from the Central Pattana mall.

Firefighters with multiple fire engines and the Pattaya News team arrived at the scene to find lots of smoke coming out from the building. Police who lived at the dormitory used fire extinguishers to put out the fire before firefighting teams arrived.

The fire severely damaged the room of the female police officer, whose name was withheld by law enforcement. A mobile phone, a communication hub, and a battery that were being charged on a surge protector were damaged as well.

At this stage, Pattaya police believe the fire started from an electric short circuit from the surge protector before spreading out quickly through the room. Luckily, the blaze was put out quickly as the dormitory is home to dozens of junior police officers and roughly adjoined to the back of the Pattaya Police station.
