Sri Racha –
The Sri Racha District Chief launched a road and marine safety campaign with free helmet giveaways targeting to decrease road and marine accidents during the Songkran festival.
The launching campaign today (April 8th) was led by the Sri Racha District Chief Mr. Dongphon RujiThammat near the Sri Racha Municipality.
Mr. Dongphon told TPN media, “There are many road accidents at crosswalks in Chonburi. We are trying to make sure that motorists pay attention to slow down when they are getting closer to crosswalks and stop for pedestrians to cross the road. Many crosswalks in Sri Racha are being repainted with red colors to make motorists easily see them from far away.”
TPN notes this repainting follows this recent major local news story:
A monk has sustained several injuries while attempting to cross a crosswalk (zebra crossing) in Ban Bueng after being hit by a hit-and-run motorbike rider on April 6th.
Motorbike rider hits and injures monk on Chonburi crosswalk, flees following the accident
“We have also given free helmets to motorbike drivers and passengers. Eight hundred helmets were givern from four police stations in Sri Racha. People must wear helmets every time when driving on their motorbikes for their safety. We are targeting to decrease road accidents especially in this coming Songkran festival.”
