Thailand reported a total of 24,635 daily Covid-19 infections with 81 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, March 28th.
The fatalities were 46 men and 35 women with the highest rate in Bangkok with 11. 80 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Myanmar national. The age range was between 9 months and 94 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (6), kidney disease (18), obesity (2), stroke (10), and heart disease (12). Two of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 24,288 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 282 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 31 were from prisons, and the remaining 34 were imported cases.
A number of 250,737 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,718 patients are in critical condition including 675 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.68 percent of cases that are critical while 39.28 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,248, followed by Chonburi with 1,390, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,328, Songkhla with 943, Samut Sakhon with 872, and Samut Prakan with 865.
A total number of 110,982 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 29,347 people had received their first shots, 11,195 people had received their second shots, and 70,440 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 79.5% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 72.2% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 33.3% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 25,753 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,553,720 cases with 3,278,103 recoveries and a total of 24,880 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
