According to Pol. Lt. Col. Wuttikarn Plongrong, Deputy Police Commissioner of Pattaya City Police, the venue had broken three main orders currently in place.
Those three violations were selling alcohol without permission, opening an entertainment venue illegally, and breaking Chonburi Communicable Disease Control orders around social distancing and other Covid-19 rules.
The venue, Casanova Pub and Karaoke, was operated by Mr. Mangkorn Sawangjit, according to Wuttikarn.
Lt. Col Wuttikarn said the Pattaya City Police were requesting to the Chonburi governor that the venue be permanently closed as an example to other businesses that might consider breaking the current strict rules in place around nightlife due to Covid-19.
Lt. Col Wuttikarn added that officials were aware the current rules were unpopular but that they didn’t make the rules and only enforced them. Legally, bars and nightlife are still technically closed nationwide in Thailand due to Covid19 measures from the national government. However, they have been allowed to convert temporarily to restaurants with many rules, including 11:00 P.M closing.
The Banglamung district office will review the request from the Pattaya police to permanently order close the venue before forwarding it onward to the Chonburi governor.
