Two people arrested with loaded firearms, 12 suspected drunk drivers arrested near Pattaya Music Festival last night

Pattaya –

Pattaya City Police arrested two men with two guns and 26 bullets, and 12 drivers who were over the legal alcohol limit near the Pattaya Music festival last night.

Last night (November 12th) Pattaya City Police patrolled around the Pattaya Music Festival area on Jomtien Beach near the night market and set up multiple checkpoints. Police also conducted random searches of vehicles to make sure people were safe during the festival.

A video our team took of arrests and the checkpoints is below:

The stepped-up security followed an incident which we reported here, earlier in the week, in which a young man discharged a firearm on Pattaya Beach Road in a fit of anger after a reportedly woman asked him to stop recording a video on the beach.

At 0:16 A.M. the Pattaya City Police reported to TPN media that they arrested 12 people over the legal limit of an alcohol breath test at checkpoints near the music festival. All twelve were taken to Pattaya City Police station for legal processing.

Two men in a pickup truck were also reportedly found with two handguns and 26 bullets.

Both men claimed they had permission to carry the weapons as they are legal bodyguards of the president of the Prachinburi Provincial Administrative Office. The two men claimed that due to the nature of the work they perform they did not need proper licenses or permits. Pattaya City police, however, shed some doubt on this story and arrested the men for further review.

The names of the two men arrested with firearms were withheld by Pattaya police pending a further investigation and discussion with Prachinburi officials. Both men were taken to the Pattaya City Police Station for further legal action.
