Thailand discovered a total of 7,706 daily Covid-19 infections with 66 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, October 26th.
The fatalities were 27 men and 39 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 12. 62 of them were Thai nationals, two were unidentified, and one of each was a Pakistan and Myanmar national. The age range was between 28 and 101 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (34), diabetes (30), hyperlipidemia (15), obesity (9), and kidney disease (5). Four of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 7,234 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 334 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 128 were from prisons, and the remaining 10 were imported cases.
A number of 98,150 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 2,414 patients are in critical condition including 544 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.45 percent of cases that are critical while 22.5 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 901, followed by Pattani with 621, Songkhla with 620, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 533, Chiang Mai with 355, and Narathiwas with 322. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 245 infections today.
A total number of 731,718 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 346,589 people had received their first shots, 341,373 people had received their second shots, and 43,756 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 56.0% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 39.9% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 3.0% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 9,532 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,866,863 cases with 1,748,848 recoveries and a total of 18,865 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
