Chonburi –

A 60-year-old driver avoided any major injuries after a train collided with his truck in the Phan Thong district.

The Phan Thong Police were notified of the accident at night earlier this week on the Nong Tamlueng – Ban Gao Road in the Nong Tam Lueng sub-district.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the overturned pickup truck on the road near the railway. The train was found on the railway nearby.

The truck driver, Mr. Ongart Handee, 60, who had sustained only minor injuries, told the associated Thai press, “It was very dark at the scene with no warning lights or train barriers. I was in the middle of the railway when I heard the train’s horn.”

“I tried to hurry but it was too late. The train crashed into the back of my truck. The truck overturned.” Ongart stated.

Luckily, Ongart was not injured and only the rear of his truck suffered significant damage. Phan Thong officials said they would be investigating why this particular train crossing had no warning lights, signals, or barriers. TPN media notes that prior train accidents like this one had prompted officials to say they would be inspecting barriers nationwide previously. However, it clearly seemed that not all barriers had been part of the process.
