RECAP: Thailand finds 9,727 daily Covid-19 infections with 73 additional deaths today

Thailand discovered a total of 9,727 daily Covid-19 infections with 73 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, October 21st.

The fatalities were 41 men and 32 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 9. 72 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Chinese national. The age range was between 19 and 104 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (41), diabetes (28), hyperlipidemia (13), obesity (6), and kidney disease (14). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.

Of the new cases, 9,072 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 558 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 71 were from prisons, and the remaining 26 were imported cases.

A number of 103,086 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 2,687 patients are in critical condition including 603 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.6 percent of cases that are critical while 22.4 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,010, followed by Yala with 653, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 630, Songkhla with 627, Pattani with 543, and Narathiwas with 374. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 359 infections today.

A total number of 915,956 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 428,656 people had received their first shots, 446,015 people had received their second shots, and 41,285 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 54.2% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 38.0% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 2.9% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 10,075 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,821,579 cases with 1,699,934 recoveries and a total of 18,559 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
