Thailand-
The following is our weekly feature in which we ask our readers a news topical question and get their insight and opinions. We then share their feedback a week later and pick a variety of diverse and interesting responses.
This week, we bring up a topic that always brings heated opinions, debate, and discussions. This comes after the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, or CCSA, admitted at a press conference today in Bangkok that they were considering a Covid-19 pass (vaccine pass) and would be developing action plans and discussing it further. It’s important to note that this doesn’t mean it is “set in stone” and is still in the early pre-discussion/proposal phases. But, let’s ask our readers:
Would YOU support a mandatory vaccine pass to go to places like bars, nightclubs, restaurants, gyms, massage shops, cafes, etc. in Thailand? Why or Why not?
Other countries, like France and Italy, have their own version of the passes which are causing huge protests, debates, and arguments around the world.
Some thoughts to consider about Thailand mandating this:
-Do you think they could enforce it? Thailand has a reputation for a “no worries” culture and based on this, do you think bars, clubs, restaurants, etc. would check every customer and enforce this rule, especially if the customer has “money in hand?”
-Is it even needed as more data is found out about the Delta variant and spread from and to vaccinated people?
-Should there be exceptions? At today’s conference, the CCSA spokesperson specifically mentioned they were considering air-conditioned indoor venues, which means unlike France, it would be unlikely that one would a pass at say an outdoor beer bar or restaurant. Would this be ok with you?
-Should there be an exception for those who have already had Covid-19 and recovered?
-Do you think there would be a chance of fake documents, passes, and registrations?
We want to hear what YOU have to say. Tell us on our social media channels, in the comments below, or if you prefer your comment to be private mail us at Pattayanewseditor@gmail.com. We will publish the results and select a variety of diverse responses early next week!
