Chonburi –

Two drug dealers have been arrested in Mueang Chonburi on Friday, (July 30th) with a kilogram of crystal methamphetamine and 3,000 methamphetamine pills.

First, a video version of this story can be seen here:

A team from the Chonburi Provincial Police led by Colonel Suktat Poompanmuang has arrested Mr. Tanet ‘Win’ Yoosabai, 28, and Mr. Maytha ‘Deaw’ Lahungpet, 43, in the Samet Sub-district.

Seize from them were 1.125 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 3,000 methamphetamine pills, two mobile phones, two motorbikes and a pickup truck.

Colonel Suktat told The Pattaya News, “We were notified by a concerned citizen that the two suspects were delivering drugs in Soi Nartmontree Saewee.”

“We first caught Win before he admitted that he was hired by Deaw. He said that he received 1,000 baht for each delivery.” Colonel Suktat explained

Win, who was emotional and in tears, told Pattaya News reporters, “My wife is pregnant and I had to do this as we don’t have enough money for us and the baby and there are no other job opportunities because everything is closed due to Covid-19 measures. Now, I will not get to see the birth of my child and likely my wife or baby for many years as this is a serious crime.”

Deaw, who was calm, told police, “I was just in jail for eight years for selling drugs after being released three months ago. When I was released, I found that there were no job opportunities because of Covid-19 restrictions and the state of the economy. I decided to start selling drugs again because I thought police would be enforcing Covid-19 rules. Unfortunately, I was wrong. But, what else could I do? Nearly every job sector that one could do like myself is shut due to Covid-19 right now.”

Both suspects will face likely extensive prison time, although Win, who cooperated with police and does not have a prior record, will likely face less serious consequences.
