Pattaya Bali Hai Pier given a Covid-19 deep cleaning due to large amount of people gathered for charity donations

Pattaya –

Pattaya City officials held a large cleaning day at the Bali Hai Pier in South Pattaya yesterday, addressing concerns from some local residents about the number of people gathered in the area for food-related charity events and the potential spread of Covid-19.

Due to Covid-19 and strict restrictions and measures that have closed thousands of businesses in tourism-reliant Pattaya, many people are currently unemployed, homeless, or are on tight budgets. This has led to an increase in generous individuals and organizations helping the many devastated by Covid-19 restrictions and mandates by handing out meals and supplies on a daily basis.

Yesterday, (July 31st), a team from Pattaya City led by the Pattaya City Deputy Mayor Manot Nongyai and staffers with five water trucks cleaned the multi-purpose area at the Bali Hai Pier. A video of this story is below:

Mr. Manot told Pattaya News reporters, “We are focusing on the cleaning and sanitation of places in the Pattaya area especially places where many people are gathering for food donations like this place. Our law enforcement is working hard at these donation and charity events to ensure people are socially distancing, wearing masks, using hand sanitizer, and not eating together.  We don’t have any signs of Covid-19 related spread coming from these events, but it never hurts to be too careful, thus the cleaning.”

TPN media notes that recent charity events at the pier have driven on a regular basis over a thousand people to the area, under strict social distancing rules.

“Anyone who wants to do food giveaways and charity donations must contact Pattaya City Hall first at 1337 or visit the Banglamung Amphur Office on the highway in person,” Manot added.
