Five pro-democracy activists were granted bail without surety by the Dusit Municipal Court in Bangkok this afternoon, July 8th, after being charged with allegedly violating the Emergency Decree during a demonstration last year at the Royal Thai Army Headquarters on July 20, 2020.
All of the charged members of the People’s Party – namely Anon Nampa, Mr. Parit “Penguin” Chiwarak, Piyarat “Toto” Chongthep, Panupong “Mike Rayong” Jadnok, and Suwanna “Looktan” Tanlek – have presented themselves to the court today to hear its reading, regarding their pro-democracy gathering during the implementation of the Emergency Decree.
As of 2:00 PM., the Dusit District Court had ordered all defenders temporarily released without sureties. They were, however, ordered to ensure they would not violate their terms of bail, such as running more protests. All five must present themselves at the court for further questioning and evidence examination on October 18th at 9:00 AM.
