Rayong announces strict alcohol sale rules, crackdown on group drinking, as Covid -19 confirmed cases increase, 90 new and confirmed cases today

The Rayong governor released a new order (yesterday, July 6th) which takes effect from today (July 7th). Ninety new and confirmed cases were announced today.

The order which was issued by the Rayong Governor Channa Eiamsang states the following:

  1. No alcohol sales, giveaways, or exchange, from 5:00 PM to 4:00 AM. This is everywhere, including supermarkets and stores like 7-11 and Family Mart.

  2. No drinking alcohol in groups, period. This also includes in private and as there is no number given on what a group is, this could be anything over one person. This is a similar rule to the current one given in Chonburi and previously Surat Thani.

Rayong has announced 90 new and confirmed cases of Covid -19 today, July 7th, 2021.

This makes a total of 2,092 cases of Covid-19 in the current round of Covid-19 with 13 deaths, since the start of this recent round of infections in early April.

Of those 90 new cases, 36 were found through contact tracing and in hospitals, and 54 were found through active case-finding in local communities.

Of those 2,092, 1,726 are Thais while 366 are foreigners/migrant workers.

Additionally, 1233 people in total have now been released from medical care and fully recovered since this current wave began.
