Chonburi governor orders temporary closure of major construction camp, affects several prominent Pattaya construction sites

The Chonburi Governor, Phakkhrathon Thianchai, ordered the temporary closure of a major construction workers camp this evening, July 5th, 2021, to control the spread of Covid-19.

The order concludes, “Many Covid -19 confirmed cases are being found at the construction worker camp owned by ‘Syntec Construction Public Co. Ltd.’ which is located in Nongprue, Banglamung.”

This large camp supplies workers to many major construction sites in Pattaya.

“In order to control the spread of the virus, the Chonburi communicable disease committee has ordered the follows:

1. The temporary closure of the construction worker camp owned by Syntec Construction Public Co. Ltd in Nongprue. Nobody is allowed to leave the camp and nobody may enter without permission from a Chonburi Public Health Official especially involving the control of travel of camp residents and staff to the construction sites below:

1.1 Construction site of the ‘Grand Center Point Pattaya 2 Hotel’ in Naklua.

1.2 Construction site of the new parking building at the Terminal 21 Pattaya Mall on North Pattaya Road in Naklua.

1.3 Construction site of the ‘Discovery Beach Pattaya Hotel’ on Pattaya Second Road, near Soi 6, in Nongprue.

2. Those sites listed from 1.1 to 1.3 must follow the below orders:

2.1 The movement of staffers and workers from the worker camp to the construction sites listed must follow the new measurements. Nobody is allowed to leave the camp and nobody may enter the construction site without permission from a Chonburi Public Health Official, making all those workers living at the camps essentially ineligible to currently work these sites, regardless of their testing status for Covid-19.

2.2 In case there is any other company, outside staff, or otherwise which has contracted with the Syntec Construction Public Co. Ltd at the sites listed above and do not reside at the workers camp they must report to Public Health Officials or the district chief before entering the sites above to work.

The order is from tomorrow (July 6th) to August 2nd. Public Health Officials will be assisting camp residents with their needs during the order including food.

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 279 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today, as well as one new death, July 5th.
