The owner of the Lisa Guesthouse handed out food, water, milk, and face masks in front of the Pattaya City Police Station yesterday afternoon (June 3rd).

Pattaya City Police and volunteers assisted in handing out free meals to the needy with hygienic measurements such as temperature checks and hand sanitizer to protect against Covid-19.

The organizers of the event, who wanted their names withheld as they stated the event wasn’t about them, told The Pattaya News many people in Pattaya are unemployed after many businesses had been closed both due to restrictions and government orders as well as business decisions.

Lisa Guesthouse wanted to help people during this pandemic crisis and yesterday was Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana’s birthday. They wanted to do good things for the local community, according to their statements.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the vast majority of Pattaya’s businesses remain closed due to either government orders such as entertainment venues and bars or business decisions such as hotels due to lack of tourists.

Pattaya’s local economy revolves around tourists, with roughly 80% of their GDP tourism-based. A significant portion of their economy is based around nightlife, bars, and clubs.
