Police Cyber Taskforce in Pattaya raids home, arrests six suspects allegedly running illegal gambling websites

Pattaya –

The Police Cyber Taskforce today (May 25th) raided a house in Pattaya where they have arrested six suspects who allegedly were operating illegal online gambling websites.

A team from the Police Cyber Taskforce (PCT) Region 2 led by Colonel Sutthisak Wantee and the Pattaya City Police raided the house ‘Baan Suan La La Na’ in Soi Chaiyapruek 1, Nongprue early this afternoon.

Four Thai men and two Thai women were found operating online ‘Baccarat’ websites inside the house, which violates Thai law, according to statements by Colonel Sutthisak to The Pattaya News. The suspect’s names were not released by the Police Cyber Taskforce to the associated Thai press.

Police seized 10 computers, four cars, and nine book banks that stated the income generated by the gambling websites was about 10,000 baht per day. There were more than 10,000 customers on their online systems, added Sutthisak.

Colonel Sutthisak told The Pattaya News, “We had received a tip-off from concerned local residents that this place was being used to operate illegal online gambling. Acting on that tip, we surveyed the location, verified that suspicious activity was taking place and conducted a raid on the property.”

“All six suspects claimed they were just line-level employees who received 9,000 baht per month in salary for operating the website. They claim they do not know who the manager or owner of the website is and that they worked remotely for the website operator.” Sutthisak continued.

All six suspects will face legal charges around the operation of illegal gambling websites, despite their claims that they did not know who their boss was or how to locate this individual(s).

Colonel Sutthisak told The Pattaya News that the Police Cyber Taskforce is continuing their investigation to find the illegal online gambling operator and their location. Thailand has been conducting a major campaign against illegal gambling websites over the past several months in particular.
