Chonburi warns staffers at industrial estate to quarantine 14 days even if their Covid -19 test results are negative

Chonburi –

The Chonburi Public Health Office this afternoon (May 24th) has issued an announcement to warn employees at the Celeraise (Thailand) company who tested negative and were waiting for results to continue to quarantine themselves for 14 days.

The announcement stated 255 staffers, both Thais and migrant workers, at the company located at the Amata Industrial Estate in Mueang Chonburi have been tested so far. 133 of them tested positive with Covid -19 and were taken to hospitals per Thai law, regardless if they were asymptomatic or not.

189 people tested negative while 33 people are still waiting for results. The people who tested negative must still quarantine for 14 days at home until June 5th. Medical volunteers and Public Health Officials will be checking up on the staff during their quarantine, most of who live at dormitories nearby that have been essentially sealed off from the public by authorities. Chonburi health officials visited one of those dormitories yesterday, we wrote about it here.

The Chonburi Public Health Office added they have legally issued the quarantine order to all staff at the company who had tested negative. If anyone did not follow the order they shall face legal action. The Ministry of Public Health is reportedly helping to provide food, water, and supplies for some workers during the quarantine period as many of them are low-income and do not have supplies or cash to purchase them.

Local authorities in the Bang Sai sub-district, Mueang Chonburi, informed Thai and migrant workers in the area to follow the order. The majority of cases in Chonburi over the past several days have come from industrial estates in Mueang Chonburi where many of the staff live in nearby Phan Thong.
