Walk and Eat in Naklua will continue, say Pattaya City Authorities, with Covid-19 precautions

Naklua, Banglamung, Chonburi-

The popular Walk and Eat festival in Naklua which is set to run on weekends through April 25th of this month will continue, said Pattaya City Authorities yesterday, although they noted some changes like canceling concerts and performances and more Covid-19 precautions were put into place.

You can read more about the event in our original article here. The event had previously been postponed once already as it was originally scheduled in January when another round of Covid-19 caused many cancellations and business closures in Chonburi. This time, however, officials seem to be taking a more measured approach.

Manot Nongyai, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, spoke to The Pattaya News yesterday, April 15th, and explained that on April 3rd, 2021, a Covid-19 positive patient was confirmed as having visited the event from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. However, it is now approaching two weeks since the person was at the event and proactive testing on market vendors have not shown any other positive tests. Therefore, authorities will continue with the event to balance the economy vs. the current round of Covid-19 infections.

The Walk and Eat festival still requires one to check their temperature, wear a mask at all times, socially distance, use the Thai applications on their phone to check into the event for contact tracing, and other precautionary measures. Manot also said that market vendors were told to increase their level of precautions and measures.

Naklua Walk and Eat, located in Old Town Naklua, will continue this upcoming weekend, April 17th and 18th, and conclude the following weekend, Manot concluded.
