Reader Talkback Results: When you are not in the Pattaya area, where else do you like to go in Thailand?

Thailand-

The following is our weekly feature in which we ask our readers a news topical question and get their insight and opinions. This is the results portion after we asked our readers the following question last week:

Reader Talkback: When you are not in the Pattaya area, where else do you like to go in Thailand?

We wanted to specifically know the following:

We simply want to ask our readers and local ex-pats, nearly all who live, reside, or frequently travel to Pattaya where else in Thailand when you are here do you like to visit?

What are some of your favorite places away from Pattaya and why? Do you have any unique experiences, photos, or places you really enjoyed? This is your chance to share positive stories of places you have been outside of Pattaya.

Here is what you told us below. If you didn’t have a chance to voice your opinion you still can! Here is how!

Let us know in comments, on our social media, or mail us at Pattayanewseditor@gmail.com

Let’s see what you had to say, we got dozens of responses and selected a diverse number of them across our social media channels to represent different opinions and perspectives (By the way, Koh Chang got the most votes):

Gerard M-Koh Samet is my favorite island!! Pa Kret in Bangkok is an interesting place and Ban ka Chao for the incredible natural area in Bangkok!!

Simon R-I have been going to Thailand every year for the past 12 years, Koh Chang to relax, beautiful beaches. Great accommodation and friendly locals, Korat for a taste of the city life, lovely food from street vendors wonderful night markets. In general an all-round vibrant city

Pascal S-1.) Ban Jabo North East of Mae Hongson. Dramatic scenery early morning to watch the sunrise above the sea of fog and green mountain hill. Good place for nightscape photography…
2.) Huai Sun lake in the Valley level of the Kham Bo rice fields (between Sakhon Nakhon and Udon Thani). There are almost no houses and no street lights in a radius of 10-30 km. Probably the best conditions in Thailand for astrophotography.

Steven S-As I can only travel domestic I have focused on visiting places I have not been to before. Last Nov/Dec I visited Koh Jum, Koh Muk, Koh Lanta, Koh Libong, Koh Sukorn, Koh Lipe and Hat Yai.
Last month I visited Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Roi et, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani. I then decided to fly to Phuket and visit the west coast beaches, Phuket Town, Koh Yao Noi (currently here), Koh Yao Yai, Kao Sok, Kao Sok NP, and Khao Lak.
The downside of domestic travel atm is limited public transport. The upside good deals on places to stay.

Howard M-Khao Yai for the scenery, the food, fantasy & the golf courses.
Hua Hin for the beaches, the water playground & the golf courses.

Charles F- About five years ago I discovered a small hamlet down the coast in Chantaburi province.  It is called Chao Lao.  It runs along the coast and has a beautiful pristine quiet beach.  Saying that in those five years it has started to develop but is still idyllic.  Lots of seafood restaurants and hotels of all sizes to suit all budgets.  Plenty of air-con rooms with TV fridge etc for 500 baht a night.
The beach is very similar in size and quality to White Sand Beach on Koh Samed but nowhere near as crowded or busy.
There is a free Marine sanctuary with sharks and turtles as well as a Maritime museum.
All along the main road is a very well kept cycle path for the more energetic. Photos below, credit Charles F. (Cover photo also credit Charles F.)
Curtis C-The only place I haven’t visited so far is South Thailand. But I enjoy the area around Chiang Mai especially the mountain parks and caves. Normally I come to Pattaya for a week, make plans to visit out-of-the-way temples and smaller cities. I enjoy the smaller towns and villages that are not so tourist-oriented.

Suraj K-A less popular but beautiful place in southern Thailand province Surathani. Khao Sok national park, and the 500 Rai floating resort on Rathaprabha Dam.

Sookjai P-I enjoy the slow pace of Nan and Amphawa. Otherwise taking a road trip around Esan.

Jared J-Koh Lipe is hard to beat

Mike H-I wasn’t aware there was anything outside of Pattaya…..

That’s all for this week, thank you as always for your feedback!
