Hours of rain brings flooding to Pattaya yesterday – photo tour –

Pattaya-

Two hours of rain in the Pattaya and Banglamung area yesterday afternoon (February 17th) brought major flooding and traffic delays on many Pattaya roads.

The rain hit about 4:00 P.M. and lasted for two hours. Water found on road surfaces ranged from about 10 centimeters to over 40 centimeters high on both lanes of Sukhumvit Road and small roads causing multiple traffic delays.

At the same time, parents found difficulty picking their children up at Mueang Pattaya 4 School, with many kids and their parents seen wading through deep water to get home.

Traffic police and law enforcement officers assisted to direct motorists with the traffic and assist with those people stranded in floodwaters.

One hour after the rain stopped, the water level decreased and the traffic was back to normal. The Pattaya News notes that although there has been significant criticism from some on social media in regards to drainage in the area, the system managed to work in a much shorter period of time than prior years to remove floodwaters according to Pattaya City officials.
