Pattaya-
A German team has won the 5th Annual Pattaya International Pigeon Race (PIPR) with a five million baht prize which was held earlier this week.
A blue female Pigeon from the Brockamp racing team from Germany was the winner of the 5th Annual Pattaya International Pigeon Race (PIPR).
The winner’s owner receives the Royal’s cup from His Royal Majesty the King of Thailand along with a five million baht prize.
Mr. Siridet Rojanarun, committee lead of the Pattaya International Pigeon Race Co. Ltd told The Pattaya News, “This year the pigeon racing was very successful despite the pandemic and Covid19 situation in Chonburi.”
“The race was 530 kilometers and the starting point was in the Sirindhorn district in Ubon Ratchathani Province.”
“There were in total 3,653 pigeons from 39 countries who joined in the race.”
“Next year we will expand the number of participants to be substantially bigger than this year as we expect the Covid19 situation to be largely resolved by then.”
“Next year’s prize is estimated to be 55.6 million baht. It is expected that there will be at least 10,000 birds joined in the race which will be more than every year in the past.” Siridet concluded.
Last year Germany also won the International FCI Pigeon Race held in Pattaya. The event was held without crowds or after parties and other popular events this year due to Covid19 precautions, however, was available to be seen online.
